A Tale of Two Cities

by Adam Selene

A series of events took place in the early 1990's which shook San Francisco at its core. It was not an earthquake. It was more like the proverbial beginning of the end. The repercussions of these events can still be felt, as they were only a prelude for what is to come. Darkness plunged into The City with a vengeance. People knew something was happening, but not many would openly discuss it. They were afraid.

A culture of fear developed. Our daily lives seemed to melt into a bizarre existence where the unknown was around every corner. Those in what is called 'the underground' were especially sensitive to these happenings because they did not have the responsibilities of the 'normal' world. Ordinary outings to local night clubs and rave parties became spiritual warfare as those who would not submit to the darkness called upon the Light. Just like Dicken's Tale of Two Cities, 'the powers of good and evil were making themselves known'. Who would prevail?

The ravers and club kids were much like a large extended family. Although there were literally thousands of us, we recognized one another. There was a great deal of love, one for another, before darkness had plunged itself into The City. For many, the love we shared turned into hatred. The majority of our 'family' fell into a void of negativity, and for inexplicable reasons decided to remain there. The light in their eyes grew dim. The dark people hated the Light. Cults developed to praise the new demons who had made themselves known to 'the children'. Secret societies spawned new fashions, renewed attitudes of wickedness, pagan rituals and secret languages -- all with the intention of profaning God and anything which was positive. During this time of deception, these groups proclaimed 'evil' to actually be 'good'. They proclaimed their new supernatural demon masters as goddesses. They taught others their wicked ways, and renounced any attempt to share Light.

Supernatural intrusions began to happen at clubs and rave parties (these things happened in many other places as well -- but this site focuses only upon the events which occurred at raves and night clubs). Our perceptual shifts grew quickly toward realizing the supernatural world was becoming extremely active in our realm. Many of those who could see or hear the demons proclaimed themselves as prophets or powerful witches. The energy of the gatherings (called the vibe) began to intensify sometimes to inexpressible levels. The lights and music started feeling stronger than ever before; they seemed to react with the crowd -- with a mind of their own. Most of the changes were evil. They were twisted and pinched.

A separation occurred and people were divided into three groups: 1) those who wanted to interact with the evil; 2) those who despised the evil and who sought the power of good to combat it; and finally, 3) those who were undecided and huddled in apathy watching the show unfold.

Despite intense countermeasures of Love, those who gave themselves over to evil became whorish vessels for demons. By using the human hosts, the demons would twist and bend the music and lights at rave gatherings and night clubs towards darkness and fear -- usually causing those who were undecided to fall into the negativity. Those who sought to fight the demons used the power of their own souls to fight these manipulations. There were very few of us who had the courage to fight evil in this way. And, eventually we turned to God for guidance and support. God gave us gifts to help fight this demonic invasion. We found through concentration and spiritual energy projection we could 'turn the vibe' away from the darkness and towards the positive and uplifting. A Light appeared to those who would heed its understanding. Those who embraced the Light quickly became trumpets of Love and vowed to stand against evil. They became warriors and stood against evil by encouraging the Light in others with some of the most intense interaction humanity can experience. The lost souls were chosen to literally share in the mind of Christ through the minds of the warriors. It was God's plan to give the lost souls a golden opportunity to become as one with those who loved them so very much. The lost souls could not block out the messages coming into their minds. It was the trumpet of God.

A literal war developed in the unlikely scene of the rave and night club. The undecided folks would go with the 'positive vibe' if it suited them that night; or they would choose the evil. Many of the undecided folks grew envious and lustful for the 'powers' being displayed in this war by the Light warriors. As supernatural powers and telepathy appeared to grow amongst both sides, most of those who 'sat on the fence' decided it was easier to choose evil. We were drawn into the scene night after night by forces we could not easily comprehend. Sometimes we would see apparitions or ghost like beings at the events we attended. Voices began calling out between the beats of songs. Evil supernatural forces grew stronger on the sustenance of their human hosts and evil manifestations began to appear regularly at the gatherings. These apparitions appeared to be stronger than the forces of 'good' -- but it was simply an illusion.

A lie.

Alas, that is what evil is: deception. Illusion. Since there were so few who stood against evil, the beast told the children it was stronger than God. The foolish children believed the lie. In a noxious state of mindlessness, the lost souls grew to have faith that evil was stronger because it appeared to physically manifest itself. Those of us who sought to fight the evil often had a tough time battling it because we wrestled with our own issues of faith and courage. Those who sat on the fence soon developed a belief system based on lies: evil was stronger than good, and the 'power source' for these remarkable gifts were the demons themselves; thus, by giving themselves over to the demons they too would have this 'power'. The numbers of folks who praised the evil beings and gave themselves willingly over to it began to grow dramatically. The numbers of the Light warriors were few. We must've looked weak by comparison. Once our beloved brothers and sisters, this new legion of the lost had fallen into unspeakable traps and were being raped by evil things on a regular basis. Our passion to fight the evil grew. Our family hated us for loving them.

The power of 'good' did not produce bizarre physical manifestations of angels, or similar apparitions - the power of Love was manifest in those of us who stood against the evil. We looked meek standing against the demons. Few understood the 'power' of the soul actually dwells within us; even fewer were willing to forgive themselves after they had made ignorant choices. In time, those of us who despised the evil began to understand its ways -- it tried to use our own fears against us, our own lack of courage and faith; and we grew strong in that truth. We were set free by simple truths: a) God is real and God loved us; b) the power of good is eternally stronger than evil; c) God forgave our mistakes and did not expect us to be perfect; d) fear is a tool of evil; e) the only real power was that of God and what God has given us in our souls; f) evil steals the power of the soul from its victims, and had no real power of its own.

The millions of 'normal' people who did not attend these gatherings could feel and hear what was going on in their minds. It frightened many. They were scared to leave their homes at night. The proverbial tiger seemed to roam the streets as an eerie and purely evil energy swept into The City, night after night. Evil voices continued to call out from the shadows, with a reach far more deep than the rave or night club. It was during this strange time some of us discovered the new commandment

A passion for love and a hunger for truth kept the focus of the Light warriors strong.  During this time of painful searching, the warriors were confronted by Satan, pretending to be God; they were lied to and betrayed; and they were rejected and ridiculed by those around them. While masquerading itself as God, the beast commanded the Light warriors to stop loving other people and to only love it. Thus, it was as if God was condemning us for loving others. The Light warriors quickly realized this was but another deception of evil. The warriors knew this was wrong and refused to stop loving others. Love was the key.

Seeds were planted, which began to take root in the fertile soil of many lost children during those desperate times. Slowly, the battle subsided which was followed by a desolation of most any type of supernatural contact. Many of the lost souls fell into a wake of greed and corruption which had been left, while the warriors sought to wait out the desolation as patiently as possible.

A final battle looms on the horizon....

"Do you hear the people sing, lost in the valley of the night? It is the music of a people who are climbing to the Light. For the wretched of the Earth, there is a flame that never dies. Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise. They will live again in freedom, in the garden of our Lord...somewhere beyond the barricade is there a world you long to see?"
(Taken from the Finale of "Les Miserable")

"A NEW COMMANDMENT I give unto you. That you love one another. As I have loved you, so should you love one another."
(The words of Christ according to John 13:34)

"Everybody who does wrong hates the light and keeps away from it, for fear their deeds may be exposed. But everybody who is living by the truth will come into the light to make it plain all they have done has been done through God."
(The words of Christ according to John 3:20-21)
